Jefferson City, Mo. – After nearly two years at the bargaining table, the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees (AFSCME) Council 72 has announced it has ratified its agreement with the state of Missouri with 100 percent of the voting membership casting a ballot in favor.
The agreement includes a 2 percent wage increase in the 2013 fiscal year as well as a number of historic provisions that will serve to protect workers’ rights as well as measures to create cooperative approaches to cost-effective government.
“With all of the hard work and effort put into negotiating an agreement with the State of Missouri, I am pleased that we were able to ratify our contract,” said Nispa Bryant, a Bargaining Team member and Psychiatric Technician II at CBM in Kansas City. “We will continue to be committed to doing what is necessary in the future to ensure Missouri provides fair compensation and just benefits.”
The agreement will be effective once all members of the bargaining teams of AFSCME Council 72 and the State sign the master contract which is expected shortly.
“We look forward to continuing to work with the state to provide the best, most cost effective services to our fellow Missourians,” Bryant said.
